Help your child grow their self-belief and positive inner voice with these printable affirmation cards.
Welcome to the blog post for this week. This was a fun and meaningful little project! I am passionate about empowering the wonderful little children in our lives and teaching them the power of positive thinking and self-belief early on.
Why affirmation cards?
Affirmation cards are a beautiful and fun way to invite your child to develop positive thinking and self-belief. They are fantastic for encouraging a positive inner voice, which we know is important for living a happy and fulfilled life. A positive inner voice has been described as talking to yourself as you would a friend or a loved one, especially when things don't work out as planned or we make a mistake. As an adult, this is something that I am working on, so these affirmation cards help both Miss 6 and myself at the same time.
I made these crystal themed affirmation cards for Miss 6. She enjoys choosing one and getting me to read it to her.
Our next step will be building a regular affirmation practice into her day, maybe by picking a new card each morning or before bedtime. After the card is read the child/children repeat the words back.
These could also be set up in a classroom or learning space where children can use the cards. They would make a beautiful addition to an invitation to play with some crystals and other fun items. We have also used ours with some playdough play.
Playdough Invitation to Play with Crystal Affirmation Cards
This was a fun way to use our crystal affirmation cards with some playdough. I set up a few of the affirmation cards with the following:
Playdough boards (wooden chopping boards from Kmart)
Playdough (homemade + Wild Dough brand)
Playdough cutters (Kinfolk Pantry)
Playdough stamps and rollers (Let Them Play Toys)
Grimms large gemstones
Basket of shells
*Play was supervised. Small parts recommended for ages 3+ as they are a choking hazard.
This invitation to play was lots of fun. I read some of the cards and the girls chose their favourite.
The playdough was used for making cakes and biscuits, and cutting with the scissors.
I left this setup out for a few days for the girls to come back to when they like. The Grimms gemstones were put away, as are only used when supervised (Small parts for ages 3+).
This playdough invitation to play resulted in a very calming and mindful afternoon of play.
