All children need time to PLAY and benefit from ‘hands on’ playful learning. In our Playful Learning Community we want our child/children to experience this type of learning. The type of learning that comes so naturally to the child … and in our opinion is the best way to develop a true love of learning!

In the importance of inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

That magic happens when learning is FUN & enjoyable!

That play and 'hands on PLAYFUL learning' are such important ways for children to learn in the early years.

That each child learns and grows on their own unique timeline and in their own way .. like a flower blooming! We trust in this process (even when it's hard).

We believe in following the child’s lead and not rushing academic learning, as they only get one childhood. We believe that we can let them be little, AND nurture their precious hearts and minds!

A bit about me:

Hi I'm Danica!

I'm a mum of three beautiful girls known here as Miss 8, Miss 5 and Miss 1. We are an Australian family of 5 (including Dad too!).

I’m an early years teacher and former assistant principal/school leader,

currently at home with my youngest daughter,

while building this amazing playful community! (that's you!)

I started this blog to share my love of all things learning and play. On this blog I share the things we do at home together - 'Our Playful Learning Journey' to help inspire and empower others!

I have over 10 years classroom experience teaching in the early years of primary school and love using this knowledge and experience to help my girls at home. Watching them grow and learn from tiny babies along their own unique learning journeys has taught me so much and is the inspiration behind everything shared on this blog.

I love making magical play spaces for our kids! (photos of me taken by Miss 8)

I have a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and a Masters in Educational Leadership. I'm also trained in teaching mindfulness and meditation to children. I believe it's very important to teach children strategies to support their wellbeing through life.

I am passionate about learning in the early years, social-emotional learning, open-ended play, loose parts, art, creativity and more!
